From fashion, to interior design, to pastries, to incorporating into nostalgia items, video games have ventured into our daily lives and have become more  commonly seen outside it’s original venue. My Favorite trend is the 80’s Nintendo nostalgia 8-bit home decor and fashion.  Yes, you can buy official Nintendo shirts at Nintendo world at Rockefeller Center but wouldn’t it better to venture to the many sites like myteespot.com that can also supply Nintendo memorabilia in crafty ways? So many fans have taken to creating their own designs on many iconic Nintendo characters and parts. Both old and young are crafting their nostalgia away and coming up with  innovative ways in which to set their imagination free.

Many of them share their project on a crafter community site called www.craftster.org. These crafty gamers put, not only a lot of thought into their work, but also the time and dedication that adds love to any gift we know to be handmade. Take a look at the blanket below. A loving wife, knowing of her husband favorite childhood game, spent about a year and a half crafting this amazing 8-bit Zelda quilt. Conceptualized as a birthday present, it turned out to be a metered square hit.

Another crafters.org user, by the pseudonym Enemyairship is the mastermind behind this daring step into interior design. The project below was accomplished by using vinyl fabric, and purchasing a non-stick presser foot for his sewing machine. He mentions the task was “moderately easy but was difficult at times” due to the fact that he had never worked with that specific type of fabric before. He first crocheted the Raccoon Mario to then realize he wanted the illusion of Mario gaining his tail after having hit the golden block. So he ventured into unknown vinyl land. The verdict: success!

Gamers have even turned amateur designers quite successfully, producing chic renditions to all time favorites, Tetris, and general staples such as an NES controller. ZidishaLuxe, says the idea for this dress found its way into her head and she “couldn’t sleep until it became reality! “the body of the frock consists of cotton jersey fabric and assembling it took only two hours. It’s fantastic how many gamer of the 80’s have given way to allow such beautiful creativity. Best of all, these crafts can assimilate to our everyday lifestyles easily and help us reminisces about the good old days.
